TPS happenings

This upcoming Tuesday (21 April, 7pm) I’ll be teaching a course on Towards a Philosophy of Photography, Vilém Flusser’s 1983 treatise on photography and the historical transformation of society from a textual to visual oriented culture.

I’ve read this text a number of times over the past few years. I have been re-thinking some of my own notions about new media(s), technological drives, and networked attention. I thought it time to revisit Flusser’s text and also look into some other themes emerging from contemporary discourses on new media. In the coming weeks, we’ll also be reading some excerpts from Matthew Fuller’s Media Ecologies and Galloway and Thacker’s The Exploit.

If you are in the Los Angeles area please join us at The Public School. This course will run 2 or 3 sessions so if you can’t make this week, you are more than welcome to join us next week.
